OH Forum 2024 Registrant Information

Are you ready for the Forum?! What you need to know…

It’s not long until the Forum, below is some important information to help make your forum experience a great one. Please note this link will be updated in the lead-up to the Forum.

GETTING THERE

Spring Beach Youth Camp is about 1 hour and 15 mins drive from the Hobart Airport. If you are not driving, the Forum shuttle bus is available from Hobart Airport at specific times.

SHUTTLE BUS

If on your registration, you indicated an interest in a shuttle bus to/from the 2024 OHA Forum, please go to the Transport page to see the timetable and booking details.

There is a $27.50 contribution each way required to help with costs for the shuttle bus which can be booked and paid via the Humanitix link: https://events.humanitix.com/shuttle-bus-oha-forum-2024. Please book your seat by 18 March.  Limited spaces available.  Just because you indicated you might need the shuttle upon booking does not mean you have booked a seat, you must book and pay via the link to secure your place.

If you are booked on the shuttle from Hobart Airport to Spring Beach, follow the signs to the ‘Bus and Coach’ area (also known as the commercial lane) to board.

Any shuttle queries please contact [email protected] or Sarah on 0411 322 790.

PARKING

Upon arrival, the main parking area is located on the ‘oval’ on the right hand side opposite the main building. This spot is reserved for those sleeping in vehicles and some tent sites. If you are camping, the main camp area is ‘Oceanside Campground’ and is a 10 minute walk towards the beach from here. Best access if you want to have your vehicle in this area is to access it via the Rheban Road AFTER you have visited the registration tent.

REGISTRATION

The registration area at  Spring Beach Adventure Camp will be located in a marquee next to the ‘Tin Camp’ shed on the left as you enter the property and attended between the following hours:

SUNDAY

3.00pm – 9.30pm (in time for the last shuttle bus arrival)

MONDAY

8.00am – 11.00am

We ask that you do not arrive prior to 3.00pm Sunday as we are preparing for the forum. There are lots of beautiful places to visit nearby, if you’re early perhaps take a stroll to the local beach or have a cuppa in Orford.

If you are a day visitor, or if you think you will be arriving outside of the registration days/times above please email [email protected] or phone: Ruth 0410 540 276 or Anita 0407 884 114.

SITE MAP

The event site map is available on the final Program, and we plan to have programs with a map available onsite upon arrival. Venue information can also be accessed here: https://forum.outdoorhealth.org.au/venue-information/

ACCOMMODATION, CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT

Upon registration, you will have elected to have a bed in a dormitory, or camp, or find your own accommodation. If you are camping, unless you have pre-arranged and paid for camping gear to be provided, you will need to bring your own tent, pillow, sleeping bag/mat/bedding and warm clothing. If you are sleeping in a dorm, you will still need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow, linen and warm clothing.

Autumn weather in Spring Beach can be changeable so plan appropriately, warm clothing and a raincoat would be advisable. If you’re up for water activities, of course, bring your bathers! It would also be handy to bring your own torch.

Dorm accommodation was originally reserved for 5 night tickets. However now the dorm bed option is open to 3 night tickets too! The price is the same, $200+GST for a bed in a dorm as we pay a flat rate ourselves whether it be 5 nights or 3 nights. If you would like to take up this option please email [email protected].  For more information on the dormitory option, please see: https://www.springbeachyouthcamp.com.au/centre-facilities/

Please note all $200 hired camping gear packages are SOLD OUT.

AMENITIES

There are showers and toilets in the main building, and if you are camping, two handy portable toilet blocks near each camping area for those night time trips. Please be mindful of others and keep your showers short. Remember you will need to bring your own toiletries and towels etc.

As there are only showers in the main building, those who have booked a dorm get priority for showers between 6am – 9am and also 4pm – 10pm (essentially campers can access from 9am – 4pm). Remember the refreshing Spring Beach is a short walk down the road!

CATERING / BAR

The forum is fully catered with breakfast, a ‘pack your own’ style lunch, dinner, and morning/afternoon tea. This is a dry event and no alcohol will be sold or provided.

Please bring your own drink bottle, lunch box and spoon for a mobile feed, it would be handy if it has sections for salads and leftovers. There will be a number of lunchboxes for sale if required.

CARPOOLING

Perhaps you have a spot available in your car, or someone has room theirs?  Connect here on the Carpooling WhatsApp Group and make a new friend! Visit: https://chat.whatsapp.com/DcRU6JMo3Qf7nH2smMbA6R

FORUM T-SHIRTS

We have some fabulous but limited Forum T-Shirts available at the Forum with the artwork of Janice Ross, strong and proud Tasmanian Aboriginal Saltwater Sister.

LEND A HAND!

Volunteering is always a great way to make new connections and friends. Feel free to make yourself known to the people who will make magic happen in the kitchen, they will always be welcoming of someone to help bring out meals, wipe dishes, or restock supplies (or make them a cuppa as they toil away!). Outdoor Health Australia practises inclusion, supporting each other and getting stuck into it. OHA tries to create this feel at the forums, so feel free to lend a hand wherever you think a hand might be needed.
